We've had quite a busy and exciting week! The animal projects are off of dining room tables and taking over the entire back of our classroom. They look amazing! I'm looking forward to hearing all of the children present what they have learned for the class.
We spent the week practicing for the Pumpkin Parade, picking radishes from the learning garden, making inferences in reading, and continuing to work on writing narratives. In math, we're still learning about measurement and "skip-jumping" on a open number line to solve addition equations. Check out some pictures from our week!

This week has been one for the books! On Monday, we visited Prairie Ridge Ecostation where we had a chance to explore pond life and learn about the life cycles of all different kinds of creatures.
In reading, we have continued to study characters. We can now differentiate character traits from character feelings, provide evidence from the text to support our thinking, and understand how and why characters change throughout a story. In writing, we are learning that writing is a PROCESS and that good writing takes a lot of time and effort. Everyone is now either in the final editing stage or the publishing stage of their personal narrative writing. I'm so proud of how much their writing has improved from their first drafts! In math, we have been learning about place value and are building the foundation that we will need to work with bigger numbers in the future. We are also learning about measurement, specifically with regard to length and perimeter. AJ was our "Star of the Week" this week and taught us tons of cool facts about beekeeping. Mrs. Tinnesz was our mystery reader and brought a special surprise guest! Thanks for all your do! Check out a few of the pictures from our busy week below. |
